Fifteen Year Old Girl Dies in Utility Terrain Vehicle Crash South of Lebanon in Laclede County After Vehicle Overturns on Private Property

Missouri State Highway Patrol investigates a UTV rollover on private property in Laclede County

LEBANON, MO — A 15-year-old girl from Conway died Friday afternoon in a utility terrain vehicle crash on private property south of Lebanon, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol.

The crash happened Oct. 16, 2026, at about 2:10 p.m. off Highway C in Laclede County. Investigators said she was driving a 2014 Polaris Ranger 570 EFI when it overturned after she accelerated excessively while the vehicle was initially stopped.

She was ejected during the crash and suffered fatal injuries. The Highway Patrol said she was pronounced dead at the scene at 3:38 p.m.

How the crash unfolded on private property off Highway C

The Missouri State Highway Patrol said the UTV was stopped before the teen accelerated, causing the Polaris Ranger to overturn. The vehicle then rolled on private property south of Lebanon.

Because the crash happened on private property rather than a public roadway, investigators focused on the vehicle’s movement and the circumstances immediately before it tipped. The patrol said the teenager was thrown from the UTV during the rollover.

No other injuries were mentioned in the Highway Patrol summary of the wreck. The vehicle was left secured on the property after the crash, and the patrol reported only minor damage to the Polaris Ranger.

Troopers say the teen was pronounced dead at the scene

Emergency responders and troopers reached the scene after the crash, but the girl could not be saved. The patrol said she was pronounced dead where the crash occurred at 3:38 p.m.

Authorities identified the victim as a 15-year-old from Conway, a town in Laclede County. Her name was not included in the Highway Patrol’s release.

The crash added to a deadly month for Troop I, which covers the area. The death was the fourth traffic fatality the troop recorded in October and the 33rd it had recorded in 2026.

Missouri State Highway Patrol investigates with Major Crash Investigation Unit

The Missouri State Highway Patrol handled the investigation and said personnel from its Major Crash Investigation Unit responded, along with additional troopers. Their role was to examine how the rollover happened and document the scene.

Investigators have not indicated that any other vehicles were involved. The patrol’s account points to a single-vehicle crash on private property, with the UTV overturning after the teen accelerated excessively.

That type of crash can be especially dangerous because occupants may be thrown from the vehicle once it tips or rolls. In this case, the patrol said the girl was ejected and suffered fatal injuries.

Laclede County crash follows a month of fatalities for Troop I

The fatal wreck came during a month in which Troop I had already recorded multiple deadly crashes. By the time of this incident, the troop had counted four traffic fatalities in October.

The patrol also said the death was its 33rd traffic fatality in 2026. That number provides a grim snapshot of the year’s roadway and vehicle deaths in the troop’s coverage area.

Officials did not release additional details about the teen’s condition before the crash or whether safety equipment was being used. The patrol’s summary focused on the speed of acceleration, the overturn, and the ejection from the UTV.

Utility terrain vehicles can roll quickly on uneven ground

Utility terrain vehicles are commonly used for work and recreation, but they can become unstable quickly when driven too hard or on uneven surfaces. A sudden acceleration can shift weight and increase the risk of a rollover.

When a UTV tips, anyone not fully protected inside the vehicle can be at risk of being thrown clear. The Highway Patrol’s description of this crash shows how a momentary loss of control can turn fatal in seconds.

For investigators, the key facts remain the same: the vehicle was stopped, the driver accelerated excessively, the Polaris overturned, and the teen died at the scene. The patrol has not reported any further findings beyond that account.
