JEFFERSON COUNTY, MO — Four people were killed and three others were injured Saturday night in a three-vehicle crash on Highway 30 at Gravois Road in Jefferson County, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol.
Investigators said the collision happened around 9:30 p.m. on Oct. 24, 2026, when a GMC Sierra traveling eastbound crossed through a median crossover and entered the westbound lanes. There, it struck a Hyundai Santa Fe head-on before a Ram 2500 hit the left side of the GMC.
The crash involved a 68-year-old Manchester man driving the GMC, a 24-year-old Cedar Hill man driving the Hyundai, and a 33-year-old Barnhart man driving the Ram. The Highway Patrol said all three vehicles were totaled.
Crash sequence on Highway 30 near Gravois Road
Troopers said the GMC Sierra was in the left eastbound lane before it crossed the median crossover and moved into oncoming westbound traffic. The Hyundai Santa Fe was traveling westbound when the front of the GMC hit the front of that vehicle.
The Ram 2500, also heading west, then struck the left side of the GMC. The patrol did not say what caused the GMC to cross over the median, and the crash remains under investigation by the Major Crash Investigation Unit.
Corporal D. Norton and Sergeant E.J. Ganime are leading the investigation, with help from Corporal T. Elliston, Corporal B. Magnan, Trooper J. Collier and Trooper C. Gates.
Four victims died, including one after hospital transport
Three people were pronounced dead at the scene at 9:38 p.m., including the 68-year-old GMC driver from Manchester, a 62-year-old woman from High Ridge who was riding in the GMC, and a 24-year-old man from House Springs who was a passenger in the Hyundai.
A fourth victim, a 40-year-old woman from High Ridge who was also riding in the GMC, was taken by Big River Ambulance District to Mercy Hospital South. Medical personnel there pronounced her dead at 11 p.m.
The bodies of the three people who were declared dead at the scene were taken by Edwards Mortuary Service to the Jefferson County Medical Examiner’s Office.
Three others were hurt, with one listed in severe condition
The 24-year-old Hyundai driver from Cedar Hill suffered severe injuries and was transported by North Jefferson Ambulance District to Mercy Hospital South for treatment.
The 33-year-old Ram driver and a 5-year-old boy from Barnhart, who was riding in the truck, each suffered minor injuries. Both were taken by North Jefferson Ambulance District to Mercy Hospital St. Louis.
Authorities did not provide additional details about the nature of the injuries, but said all three surviving victims were transported for medical care shortly after the crash.
Seat belt use varied among the people in the crash
According to the Highway Patrol, the 68-year-old GMC driver and the 62-year-old woman riding with him were wearing seat belts. The 40-year-old woman in the GMC was not.
Neither the Hyundai driver nor his 24-year-old passenger was wearing a seat belt, troopers said. The Ram driver was also not wearing one, while the 5-year-old passenger in the Ram was reported to have been using a safety device.
Investigators have not said whether those restraint details affected the outcome, but they were included in the official crash report as part of the reconstruction effort.
All three vehicles were destroyed and removed from the scene
The crash left all three vehicles totaled, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol. Northwest Towing removed the wrecked GMC Sierra, Hyundai Santa Fe and Ram 2500 from the roadway after the scene was cleared.
The incident shut down a stretch of Highway 30 near Gravois Road long enough for emergency crews, ambulance districts and investigators to work the scene late into the night.
The Highway Patrol said the investigation is continuing as troopers piece together the moments before the GMC crossed into the westbound lanes.
